Afghan doctors battle Covid-19 as civil war rages on

A third of residents of Kabul, the Afghan capital, tested positive for Covid-19, according to a recent study. FRANCE 24 met with Afghan doctors on the front line of Covid-19 as the civil war continues to ravage the country.

A third of 500 random coronavirus tests performed in Kabul have returned positive, health officials said on Sunday, raising fears of widespread undetected infections in one of the world’s most fragile countries.

Kabul and most other cities are blocked, but compliance has not been widespread. More than 250,000 Afghans have returned from hard-hit Iran since the start of the year, traveling through Afghanistan without being tested or quarantined.
