Students return to school as Israel emerges from Covid-19 lockdown

It has been almost two months since the children of a Jerusalem school played together. “In the morning, they came and they were so tall that they didn’t know what to do, where to play first,” said their teacher.

Three days a week, a Jerusalem school hosts half a class. They use green toys. The other three days, the second half uses the blue toys.

But only after the parents fill in a form every day recording their child’s temperature.

Return to school is not yet compulsory in Israel. “We said [parents] from the start, if you don’t want to bring them back … until the start of [next] year is fine, we understand, “said a school staff member.
