OM – Payet has kept its promise

The Olympic attacking midfielder returned to comment a year ago and said he would stay in Marseille for a fantastic season.

“Next year I will be there to have a better season than this year and finally reach the goal we have set.” One year ago, at the end of a complicated season, Dimitri Payet promised to stay at OM to have a better season.

A year later, the international tricolor was arguably one of the most important architects for the Olympic qualifying in the Champions League. He wanted to remember that he had kept that promise by posting the quote on his Twitter account from May 2019, followed by the simple comment “DONE” (made in French).

At the end of a truncated season due to the coronavirus pandemic, the men of André Villas-Boas really finished second in Ligue 1. The player trained in Nantes for his part scored nine goals and delivered four assists in 22 appearances.

For several days, however, there has been uncertainty about the club’s contours next season, after sports director Andoni Zubizarreta left his departure. In the office for just one season, André Villas-Boas is not sure to stay either, a file the club wanted to clarify.
