OFFICIAL – Danijel Subasic leaves AS Monaco

AS Monaco have just announced that their Croatian international goalkeeper Danijel Subasic is leaving.

After eight years of loyal service and 292 games, Danijel played Subasic AS Monaco. The Princess Club revealed this information on Monday. He is a real executive and also the oldest player in the Monegasian workforce packing his bags.

Subasic was also one of the last survivors of the French Champions Team 2017 (together with Kamil Glik). In addition, he is the only player in the current squad who has experienced the horrors of Ligue 2 (between 2011 and 2013).

Subasic’s (35) departure was somewhat predictable, as he lost his starting place long ago in favor of Benjamin Lecomte. In 2019/2020 he played only one League Cup match.

Monegasque’s leadership paid tribute to him

Dimitri Rybolovlev, club president, spoke personally to thank the runner for the services: “I congratulate Danijel for his exceptional journey with AS Monaco. He arrived at the beginning of the project, when we were still in the 2nd division and raised many challenges all these years to contribute to the team’s great success (…) He is a great player who demonstrated here all his sporting qualities and great character strength. I want to thank him for his loyalty and for everything he has done here. Danijel is always welcome at AS Monaco. “

Subasic was now able to return to his country and his hometown of Zadar, which only knew AS Monaco abroad.
