China: boom in agricultural cooperatives

In China, food security is one of the government’s priorities. A big challenge because the country has almost 7% of the world’s arable land and 20% of the world’s population. One of the ways the authorities have found to increase national yields is to encourage the formation of agricultural cooperatives. Public funding was offered for this purpose in 2007, and the Chinese rural landscape has since changed. Our correspondent in China visited one of these cooperatives.
