A former Liverpool striker believes that Jurgen Klopp made a mistake when he did not secure compatriot Timo Werner.
So far, and with the exception of Greek hill Kostas Tsimikas, Merseysiders have not signed any new recruits. A big strategic mistake according to a certain Peter Crouch. For the former Reds striker, who now works as a consultant for BT Sports, Liverpool should have sought reinforcements. Including one in particular.
“There are always sectors that need to be renewed”
“It’s never a bad thing to bring in new players to get new blood,” the former English international told the Daily Mail. Liverpool have a fantastic team, but there are always areas that require investment (…) The addition of another midfielder – like Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich – or another striker would be welcome. I have a feeling that they were missing something by not being able to get Timo Werner ”. The German striker had been contacted as a reminder to gather Anfield, but he finally took the direction of Chelsea. The Blues managed to capture it from Leipzig for an amount of 60 million euros.
Note that although they were not reinforced up front, the Reds hit hard offensively during the first day. They have spent four goals at Leeds United, including one from just Mohamed Salah. What to discredit Crouch?
