President Farmajo signs two-year extension approved by Parliament
The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo last night signed the controversial Special Law on the Direction of Federal Elections which was approved by the Somali Parliament on Monday.
Farmajo signed the bill without the House of Representatives presenting it as illegal by the Speaker of the Upper House.
The law has been widely opposed by some state leaders and many countries that are friends of the Somali government.
This law allows the outgoing President and Parliament to remain in office for the next two years.
