MOGADISHU – The President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Abdulla Mohamed Farmajo, welcomed the historic visit of Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and his accompanying delegation to the capital Mogadishu on Monday.
“We thank Qatar for its role in developing the infrastructure of the Somali economy, including the construction of the Hobyo port of strategic importance for Somalia and the economies of the Horn of Africa in general,” he said.
The President called on other brotherly and friendly countries to stand with the people and the government of Somalia in the reconstruction of the country and the infrastructure of the economy, and support Somalia to get back on its feet in its quest to reach the stage of self-sufficiency and development and development in various fields.
Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khairy received the Qatari delegation. The two sides discussed bilateral relations and a number of regional issues of common concern.
The Minister of Ports and Maritime Transport, Dr. Mariam Owis, and the Minister of Transport and Communications, HE Mr. Jassim bin Saif Al-Sulaiti, held a joint press conference during which it was announced the launch of the project of the central port of Hobyou soon.
