Beaujolais nouveau: The Covid-19 pandemic dampens the celebration of new French wine

On the third Thursday in November, France marks the arrival of Beaujolais nouveau. It is the country’s most famous “vin primeur” (young wine) and originates from the beautiful and very protected wine-producing region of Beaujolais north of Lyon. But this year, the coronavirus pandemic has put a damper on what is otherwise a festive party in France and large parts of the world. We take a closer look at it.
