Ethiopia declares ceasefire as rebels advance in Mekele – Eye on Africa

In tonight’s edition: The government of Ethiopia on Monday declared an immediate, unilateral ceasefire in the Tigray region after nearly eight months of conflict when Tigray forces occupied the regional capital of Mekele.

And ministers from more than 40 countries are meeting in Rome to tackle the jihadist threat on the continent.

This, as reports of Boko Haram pledging alliance to rival group Iswap, is worrying Nigeria, though some analysts remain skeptical, viewing it as useful propaganda.
