Russian Drone Attack Claims Two Lives in Odesa, Reports Governor

An overnight drone strike by Russian forces has resulted in the deaths of at least two individuals and left five more injured in a residential section of Odesa, as reported by the region’s governor.

Governor Oleg Kiper mentioned on Telegram that the Russian assault also inflicted damage on high-rise buildings, residential houses, a supermarket, and a school.

“Fires erupted in several areas, which our emergency crews are working to extinguish,” he noted.

Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov of Odesa stated that emergency and utility teams “are on-site to mitigate the aftermath of the attacks and provide necessary medical care to those affected.”

In Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city located in the northeast, Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that a drone had hit a petrol station in the city center, igniting a fire.

He did not disclose any additional information.

Meanwhile, a Ukrainian drone strike on a marketplace in the Russian-controlled town of Oleshky in the southern Kherson region resulted in seven fatalities, according to a Moscow-appointed official.

“The Ukrainian Armed Forces executed a significant strike with FPV drones targeting civilians… At least seven individuals have lost their lives, and over 20 others have sustained injuries,” Vladimir Saldo, the governor of the Russian-occupied segment of the Kherson region, posted on Telegram, using the Russian spelling of the town’s name.

The United States and Ukraine have finalized a minerals agreement that the administration of former US President Donald Trump characterized as a renewed commitment to Kyiv following the cessation of military aid.

After some initial reluctance, Ukraine has embraced the minerals deal as a means to secure long-term investments from Washington, particularly as Mr. Trump seeks to significantly reduce US security commitments globally.
