Faster than France, but is it fast enough? A look at Germany’s rollout of vaccines

About 400,000 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in Germany – almost ten times as many as France – but the country’s vaccination program has been criticized for its slowness and lack of doses. Jowharreports from Berlin.

A souvenir photo and just a few minutes wait. A small group of elderly women outside a vaccination center in Berlin are very happy with Germany’s vaccination process and they are not afraid to show it.

“I’m really glad it’s gone so fast. And it’s not complicated at all. I’m really impressed, says a newly vaccinated woman.

Others, however, are less familiar with the country’s vaccine program.

In the beginning, Germany and France wanted to work hand in hand to get as many doses as possible. Then the Chancellor changed his mind and let Europe do the work. It was a big mistake, says health expert Florian Kuckert.

The government has promised to increase the production of vaccine doses in the country and promises a significant increase in vaccinations in the spring.
