Djeddah Talks Productive for Kiev, Useless as per Moscow

The discussions organized in Saudi Arabia to advance towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict were deemed productive on Sunday by a senior Ukrainian representative.

The discussions organized in Saudi Arabia to advance towards a peaceful resolution of the war in Ukraine are seen from different perspectives.

“We had very productive consultations on the key principles on which a just and lasting peace must be built,” said Andry Yermak, Secretary-General of the Ukrainian presidency, in a statement.

Cited by the Russian official press, Deputy Defense Minister Sergei Ryabkov denounced the Saudi talks as “a reflection of the West’s attempts to continue its failed efforts” to mobilize Southern countries behind Kiev’s position.

According to a statement from the Saudi Ministry of Communication, the participants in the Djeddah discussions agreed on the importance of continuing consultations in order to pave the way for peace.

The key points of August 6th

On Sunday, Russia carried out a new massive missile attack on Ukraine, claiming to have targeted air bases in the west of the country. The Ukrainian air force said it managed to shoot down 30 out of 40 cruise missiles and all the drones fired by Russian troops.

On the Russian side, two Ukrainian missile attacks hit two bridges in territory occupied by Moscow on Sunday.
