Five Arrests Made as UK Police Uncover Alleged Terrorism Plot

Five individuals have been detained in the UK on suspicion of planning a terrorist act after authorities uncovered a potential scheme to target a specific location.

British Counter Terrorism Police have reached out to the site to inform them and offer relevant advice and support, although it has not been disclosed for operational reasons, according to police.

Four of those arrested yesterday are Iranian nationals, while the nationality of the fifth individual is still being determined.

The arrests took place in London, Swindon, and the Greater Manchester area, as stated by London’s Metropolitan Police.

Interior Minister Yvette Cooper expressed her gratitude to the police in a statement.

“These are serious incidents that highlight the need to continually adapt our response to national security threats,” Ms. Cooper said.

“The government remains committed to collaborating with police and intelligence agencies to support all necessary actions and security assessments to ensure the country’s safety.”
