At Least 10 Confirmed Dead and Many Missing Following Texas Flooding

At least ten individuals have lost their lives due to flooding caused by heavy rainfall in Texas, as reported by officials, with several more individuals unaccounted for.

Severe downpours struck the city of San Antonio on Thursday morning, leading to flash flooding on roads that swept vehicles into a nearby creek bed, according to local news outlet KENS5.

The station indicated that the San Antonio Fire Department was actively searching for at least four additional missing persons.

City officials confirmed that by yesterday afternoon, the death toll had reached ten.

“I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our San Antonio first responders and their families for their dedication to the recovery efforts,” he said.

City officials mentioned that first responders have carried out over 70 water rescues and 16 high water investigations since the onset of the flooding.

Experts have long cautioned that climate change, driven by human-made fossil fuel emissions, is increasing the frequency, intensity, and duration of extreme weather events like torrential rains.
