Bee Alert: US Truck Crash Unleashes 250 Million Bees
A truck accident that released 250 million bees has raised alarms in the western US, prompting police to advise the public to steer clear of the swarming stinging insects.
The incident occurred in Washington state, in the far northwest, when a semi-trailer transporting a load of hives overturned.
“250 million bees are now on the loose,” the Whatcom County Sheriff posted on their social media page.
“PLEASE AVOID THE AREA due to the risk of bees escaping and forming swarms,” it added.

While some beekeepers focus solely on honey production, many others lease their hives to farmers who rely on the insects for crop pollination.
